Trim Levels
The new 2023 Chevy Equinox is available in four trim levels. The base trim is the LS, which is followed by the midrange LT. Next up is the luxury- and performance-touched RS, and for all the bells and whistles, you'll want to peruse the Premier. Exterior features include 17-, 18-, or 19-inch wheels and LED headlights. With the Midnight and Sport editions, you get special badging and body-color mirror housings. Exterior colors include Iridescent Pearl, Harvest Bronze Metallic, Summit White, Mosaic Black Metallic, Blue Glow Metallic, Iron Gray Metallic, Sterling Gray Metallic, and Radiant Red.
Engine
The sole powertrain on the 2023 Chevy Equinox is a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that delivers 175 horsepower backed up by 203 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with standard front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive across the lineup. This engine represents a boost of 5 horsepower over last year's model. It provides a bit more pickup under the hood, which should be a welcome improvement to fans of the vehicle.
Performance
The new 2023 Chevrolet Equinox offers a smooth, serene ride with outstanding sound dampening in the large cabin, a suspension that does a fantastic job controlling body roll, confident acceleration, and powerful brakes. It corners well and has athletic handling. When properly equipped, it boasts a maximum towing capacity of 1,500 pounds, and its available all-wheel drive will ensure that you can get around in most inclement weather and poor road conditions. In terms of cargo capacity, it boasts a maximum payload capacity of 1,190 pounds.
Interior
The cabin offers plenty of space for both passengers and cargo. Behind the back seats, you get 29.9 cubic feet of space for luggage and gear. When you fold all of the seats down, the cargo space expands to 63.9 cubic feet. It also offers plenty of space for passengers. Upfront, you get 40 inches of headroom and 40.9 inches of legroom. For back-seat passengers, the Equinox offers 38.5 inches of headroom with 39.9 inches of legroom.
Safety Features
The Equinox comes with a solid suite of standard driver aids. These include features such as standard forward collision mitigation to warn you of an impending crash and automatically apply emergency brakes. You also get lane-keeping assistance to keep you centered if you start to drift. A back-seat reminder alerts you to be sure nothing and no one is left behind. Add-on safety features include blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warnings, as well as rear parking sensors. Driver Confidence packages offer adaptive cruise control, automated parking, and surround-view camera systems.
