St. Joe State Park
The residents of Park Hills are blessed to have a fantastic state park directly beside them. St. Joe State Park features four lovely lakes with two swimming beaches with many well-maintained trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. You can partake in all kinds of outdoor activities here, including kayaking on the lakes and rock climbing in the forested hills. You can also picnic in one of the many eating spots, which include several barbecue pits.
It’s the kind of park you might never want to leave, and if you feel like staying overnight, there’s a great campground situated on a hill with some amazing views. The park also has many special trails set aside for off-road vehicles, which makes it a very popular place for off-roading adventures. Columbia Park
The town’s largest city park is a wonderful place to go for a walk or a cycle along a very pleasant trail that offers some scenic views and challenging hilly sections. Some of the interesting sights to see as you walk are a picturesque stone chapel and a beautiful gazebo.
There are five pavilions in the park which are free to reserve and ideal for picnicking. You have nearby barbecue pits and a few well-equipped playgrounds for children that include handicapped-accessible swings. There’s also a terrific water park and an 18-hole disc golf course to enjoy. Elvins Park
In the southwest of town, there’s a small but charming park that’s ideal for anyone seeking some fresh air and a picnic while surrounded by greenery. There are picnic tables and a couple of nice pavilions that can be rented. There’s also a playground and basketball hoop. Visit this peaceful little park at Elvins Boulevard East and Garrett Street.
Desloge Park
A stone’s throw from town in neighboring Desloge, you’ll find this excellent park which has a warm family-friendly atmosphere and plenty of fun things to do. They have several playgrounds, a zip line, a public swimming pool, and a great dog park area too. It’s also a very pretty park to stroll around and take pictures in. You can find it at 360, Park, 252 West Walnut Street, Desloge.
